INTRODUCTION:
In today's fast-paced business environment, efficient warehouse management is essential for maintaining operational productivity and maximizing profitability. To meet the ever-changing needs of businesses, Odoo, a comprehensive business management software solution, has introduced its new features in Odoo 17 Inventory, which offers a range of thrilling enhancements specifically designed for inventory management.
AUTO BATCH
In Odoo 17, a new feature called Autobatch has been introduced, which automates the batching of operations in the ready stage.
Autobatch enables the system to automatically group operations that are ready for processing, streamlining the workflow and improving operational efficiency.
Note:For all of these features the procedures are the same.(Purchase,Delivery and Internal Transfers)
FLOW:
- Inventory→Configuration→Operation types→Select the Operation type as Delivery Orders
- In Delivery Orders,Enable Automatic Batches.
The Batch is Automatically created when the Transfer is in the Ready Stage Only.
Validate the Batch,the Batch moved to Done State.
The Delivery Orders are moved to “Done” State.
FIFO PRODUCT COSTS
The cost of FIFO products is now set to the average price of the remaining quantities.
FLOW:
SCENARIO: 1
1. Create a new product in the Purchase module and set the costing method as FIFO.
Product Category: All
Costing method: FIFO(First In First Out)
2. Create the Purchase Order for the created product.
Details: Product: HP Laptop, Quantity: 10 units, Sales Price: 10, Total: 100
3. Validate the Receipt
4. Now the Product Cost is Rs.10 (To check the Product’s cost Go to Products → Products → HP Laptop → General Information)
SCENARIO: 2
1. Again Create a Purchase Order for the same product (HP Laptop)
Details: Product Name: HP Laptop, Quantity: 6, Sales Price: 20, Total: 120
2. Validate the Receipt.
3. Now the Product cost is set to the Average cost
The Product Cost is Rs.13.75
OPERATIONS MENU
Find the right operation easily with the revamped operations menu.
In Odoo 17, the Inventory module will feature a revamped operations menu, providing a user-friendly interface for efficient management of inventory-related tasks.
The menu includes options for inventory adjustments, internal transfers, receipts, delivery orders, scrap orders, stock moves, and stock valuation.
These enhancements streamline processes, improve inventory accuracy, and offer better visibility into stock movements and valuation, ultimately facilitating effective inventory management and optimization.
1. Inventory → Operations
PRINT AT OPERATION TYPE
Print reports automatically at transfer validation. Define which report to print at the level of operation types. If no IoT printer is linked, the report is downloaded instead.
FLOW:
1.Inventory → Configuration → Operation Type → Select the Operation type as Receipts.
2. In Receipts, Under the Hardware Tab → Enable Delivery Slip, Return Slip, Product Labels, Lot/SN Labels, Reception Report, Reception Report Labels, Package Content, and Package Label.
3.Create Purchase Order(Go to Purchase module>Create Purchase order)
Details: Vendor: Danny
Product: Liquid Cooler, Quantity:2, Unit Price:30
4. Validate the Receipt.
5. After Validating the Receipt, the Reports are automatically downloaded.
INCOTERMS
Incoterm and location are now included on the delivery slip.
In Odoo 17, the delivery slip now includes important information such as Incoterm and location. This enhancement provides clearer documentation for deliveries, allowing businesses to communicate the agreed-upon terms of the shipment and the specific delivery location. Including Incoterm and location on the delivery-slip ensures that all parties involved have a comprehensive understanding of the shipping terms and destination, facilitating smoother logistics and reducing the risk of miscommunication.
This update improves transparency and accuracy in the delivery process, enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
By default, all 11 Incoterms are available in Odoo:
- EXW: Ex-works
- FCA: Free carrier
- FAS: Free alongside the ship
- FOB: Free on-board
- CFR: Cost and freight
- CIF: Cost, insurance, and freight
- CPT: Carriage paid to
- CIP: Carriage and insurance paid to
- DPU: Delivered at place unloaded
- DAP: Delivered at Place
- DDP: Delivered duty paid
1. Sales →Create a New Sales Order→Under Other Info Tab, Select Incoterm and Incoterm Location
2. Save and Confirm.
3. Now Print the Delivery Slip.

In this Delivery Slip, Incoterms and Incoterms Location are shown.
PACKAGING DISPLAY ON DOCUMENTS
The packaging is now displayed on purchase orders, sales orders, and transfer documents.
FLOW:
1. Inventory →Configuration→Product Packaging
2. Create new Product Packaging
3. Now Create a Purchase Order for the Product Liquid Cooler.
4. Print the Purchase Order(P00040)
5. Purchase Order :
Sales Order:
1. Create a new sales order for the Product Liquid Cooler with quantity 10
2. Print the Sales Order
Sales Order(S0006)
Transfer:
1. Create a new transfer
